Diamondhead
Any good musician or singer keeps a few tunes under wraps for more intimate settings.
I bet there might be a few sisters out there who got to hear Jimi sing a few tunes he never recorded.
(And I don't even mean in a 'Plaster Caster' type way.)
And what better tune to throw down for a mellow mood than "Sunshine of your Love".
Also think about something like the Great Northern Special tour how much music the Dead and Company played just on the train.
Well, You know there had to be a similar thing going on in London during the 60's. You could see Jimi had no problem quickly learning a tune witness his Dylan covers.
I guess the Monkeys are fortunate he never got up and covered 'I am a believer ' at one of those teeny bopper shows that Jimi opened.

i was at the forest hills show. my first concert. 12 years old. i had no idea who jimi hendrix was. the monkees played for maybe half an hour iirc. girls were running across the field to get to the stage and cops were dragging them off by their hair.
